the primary force behind research on the cure, hydraclaw's suprising depth of genetic knowledge has already procured several innoculations to inhibit the infection, these are the sole reason the other elementals have not all been fully affected as cryostryke was. the problem with these methods it that each time they are used, the mutation swiftly adapts, meaning that hydraclaw has had to keep making variations on this stopgap measure rather than making any real progress on a permanent cure. the experiments and neccesitiy of immediate testing have resulted in some unusual changes in hydraclaw's phisiology, some consistant with the effects of the parasite and others due to hydraclaw's own DNA and genetic ancestors, this exposure to repeated repressive drugs has also resulted in the parasite existing in tenative balence with hydraclaw's body neither advancing nor going into remission, and remaining at fairly low levels. the changes hydraclaw has experienced have mostly been tied to the the genetics of his race, and curiously also seeming to be tied to the technology he used to rely upon, with massive claws growing on his arms, mimicing the mechanical ones he used to wield, and an amphibious breathing system, which his species once possesed before evolving further. while growing an organic version of his prefered weapon was gratifying, the amphibious adaptions carried the price of requiring constant exposure to moisture when on land, prompting him to get minigunner to build a device to regularly deploy mist over his body... the steam cannons were minigunner's idea. in the end though, hydraclaw is battling the fear that perhaps due to the adaptive nature of the infection, there is no permanent cure and that all he is doing is stalling, thus he hopes desperately that one of the scouting parties can find something he does not have access to... like a sample of the original parasite.
twin large khukri daggers fixed to main hands. secondary forearms attached to primary forearms whith duplicate blades attached to ends, when secondary forearms extended form fully functional claw configuration with main hands/forearms. single hooked "velociraptor style" claw on each foot, also functions as swimming aid. twin steam cannons on shoulders, one with traditional metal sight and the other linked to a HUD and tri light targeter inside upper left (its left) quadrent of helmet. organ sac in chest serves as focus for elemental manipulation of water via "hyper-osmosis" only funtionable underwater or in environments with high levels of humidity.
claws can exert sufficient cutting/crushing force to shatter bedrock and cut through high quality steel. skill with knife fighting is unmatched, by any other being encountered by the elementals. extremely fast underwater and posessing considerable speed on land. minimal progresion of the parasite's infection.
requires moisture to survive out of water. cannons draw upon any carried water, both to fire and to prevent overheating of internal mechanisms. organ sac in chest vulnerable despite chest armouring. little of the mutational advantages to strength, durability and healing afforded by the parasites infection
semi-amphibious phisiology including capacity to breath water of suitable levels of purity, extensive control over water. swimming ability high, with alternate configuration of limbs mimicking flippers. can camoflage self when underwater using chameleon-like adaption to mimic consistancy of surrounding water.
