MariaxLara: visiting home

Commissioned from this shows Maria and Lara visiting Maria's family home between missions, it's tied to the same rough timeline that includes Maria's snooze on Lara's lap in the woods: [link] and the pair having a relaxing day trip to the beach: [link]

This scene however was soon after the pair of them arrived home to meet Maria's parents, who were a little thrown to say the least to see Maria's obvious connection and intimacy with Lara, partly because of Lara being herself and partly due to her robotic nature, human-robot relationships are pretty much unheard of in the LL&L universe, mostly because Lara is about the first to be so realistically human, not to mention the fact that she has a human mind which certainly helps with the capacity to form an actual relationship.

Ironically enough Maria's parents were less worried about Maria being involved with a woman, acceptance of homosexuality having come a long way in this universe, helped by fertility treatments that can allow both parents in such a couple to put genetic matierial towards their children and the dissolution of many religions that persecuted against homosexuals. Being involved with an inorganic though is new territory.

It also didn't help that this was the first time either of Maria's parents had met Lara, so they only had Maria's word that she actualy had a human mind, given that Lara hadn't gone with Maria for various reasons on any of Maira's previous trips home, which were also infrequent.

Put all that together with Maria's parents still disagreeing with her decision to run off and join the military and the evening (while not hostile) was strained. Retiring to Maria's room the pair sought comfort in a cuddle, (after Lara had stripped off the uncomfortable outer layer of clothing she had worn to avoid offending Maria's parent's of course) Hoping that Maria's parents could come to accept their choice.
